Neurological Assessment of the Preterm and Full-term Newborn Infant
Written by Lilly Dubowitz, Victor Dubowitz and Eugenio Mercuri, this second edition was published in 1999. It describes in detail the Hammersmith Neonatal Neurological Examination, including how the Optimality Scored was derived, the neurological profile of healthy term and preterm infants, and how to perform the exam in infants with brain lesions.

Neurological Assessment in the First Two Years of Life
Edited by Giovanni Cioni and Eugenio Mercuri and published in 2007, this book provides an overview of the follow-up of high-risk infants. The third chapter explains in detail the use and scoring of the Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination. Other chapters describe the use of MRI and EEG during follow-up, review the most commonly used neurodevelopmental tests and explain how to assess hearing, vision and communication in young infants.
